The St. Ignatius music program strives to integrate the rich Catholic musical tradition with modern music, tools, and teaching approaches. We see music as an important aspect of personal and spiritual growth, believing that music can help students discover who they are, and help them share that discovery with others. Using a mix of traditional and modern music from both the secular and sacred musical worlds, we work to create both a love of music and a commitment to creating the best and most meaningful music possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The musical curriculum at St Ignatius includes vocal training and instrumental training on keyboard, string, wind, and percussion instruments. Students learn basic music theory, traditional music notation, compositional skills, as well as modern music technology and production techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finally, for students interested in additional learning and performance opportunities, St. Ignatius offers a variety of extra-curricular performance ensembles. These include Band and Choir\/Chorus. Instrumental ensembles<\/a> are open to all St. Ignatius students 4th grade and up, no experience required. Choir<\/a> and liturgical music<\/a> is available for students 3rd grade and up, and also requires no experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n St. Ignatius students explore the artistic process, planning, creating, reflecting and presenting in art class. Students learn to work with different materials ranging from drawing, painting, and printmaking to fabric, ceramics, and fused glass. Art history is also part of the art curriculum. Students learn about different art movements and artists from ancient times to contemporary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Throughout the school year, students have the opportunity to display and exhibit their artwork in school, the public library, and the Youth Art Month and Young People\u2019s Art Exhibition state of Ohio student exhibitions in the state capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Drama Program<\/a>Visual Arts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
